Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and OfficeNumber ("we," "us"). By signing up for or using our service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

1. The service

OfficeNumber provides UK virtual phone numbers that forward calls and SMS to a personal mobile number you nominate. Our service is intended for lawful business use within the United Kingdom.

Important: our numbers do not support emergency calls (999 or 112). If you need to call emergency services, use your underlying mobile or landline directly.

2. Eligibility

To use our service, you must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a contract under UK law. You must provide accurate information when signing up, including a valid UK mobile number for forwarding.

3. Subscriptions and billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance.
  • Pricing is shown clearly at checkout. We reserve the right to change pricing for new sign-ups; existing customers will be notified of any price increase at least 30 days in advance and may cancel before the increase takes effect.
  • Payment is processed via Stripe. By providing payment details, you authorise us to charge the recurring monthly fee until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; we do not provide refunds for partial months.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use our service to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam) or marketing without proper consent.
  • Engage in fraud, harassment, or any unlawful activity.
  • Impersonate another person or business.
  • Violate WhatsApp's Terms of Service when using a number with WhatsApp Business.
  • Attempt to bypass our security or rate limits.
  • Resell our service without our written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Where there is clear abuse, we may do so without notice.

5. WhatsApp Business numbers

If you use your number with WhatsApp Business, you are responsible for complying with WhatsApp's own Terms of Service and policies. WhatsApp may suspend or ban numbers that violate their rules; we have no control over this. We provide guidance in our welcome email but cannot guarantee that your number will remain in good standing if you do not follow that guidance.

6. Number ownership

The phone number assigned to your account is licensed to you for the duration of your subscription, but is not owned by you. If you cancel or your account is terminated, the number returns to our pool and may be reassigned to another customer after a quarantine period. We do not currently support number portability (porting your number to another provider).

7. Service availability

We aim for 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We rely on third-party telephony, payment processing, and hosting providers, and are not liable for service interruptions caused by these providers' outages. The current list of named sub-processors is published at officenumber.co.uk/sub-processors.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost business, lost profits, or lost opportunities.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may close your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or if we cease providing the service. We will give at least 30 days' notice for service-cessation closure where reasonably possible.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the changes.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local jurisdiction.
